Mercede has a new post about the difficulty in caring for a mother under house arrest.

From Sadie's blog:

I cannot go out like a normal teenager and hang out with friends to watch movies, or play sports, or take in a late dinner, because I have to make sure I am in bed at a decent time every night just in case there is a UA scheduled early in the morning. There can be several UA’s each week as well as visits with mom’s parole officer, not to mention random visits at the house by her PO, and other appointments connected to her conviction. It often makes for a very busy and very chaotic week.

Apparently Mercede read my post from Sunday about her mother's drug testing and decided to explain exactly how intrusive the experience can be on her life, and also why it is virtually impossible for her to get a job or attend college right now.

I don't understand. What do her mother's UA test and parole officer visits have to do with Mercede?

There are several good online colleges. It could make her resume look good for the future. Focus on 100% transferable credits.

  3. It sure sounds to me like the ladies of the Johnston family are in lock-down. So odd the menfolk of the family appear to be free to let the good times roll... No wonder the kerfluffle about Mercede's blog. Now if only we could prove the ladies have been discriminated against...civil rights violated.
Boy what an expose that would be!

Mercede... Mom's UA is not a good excuse for not continuing your education.

Take night classes or online classes.

If you can't work or go to school... what do you do every day?

(Susie here) I thought she graduated already. Did she drop out like Levi and Bristol did?

What in hell are they living on? I assume Sherry is getting disability of some sort, but that's not much, and they appear to be far better off than most in their situation.

I can't believe that the parole office won't cooperate in allowing Mercede to finish HS or her GED, much less get a job, even PT.

Who's running that parole office anyway?

Wow...who is funding all these visits (several UA's a week)? Something stinks.

While I understand that Mercede loves her mom,and that her mom needs help, sometimes we create more problems than need be.As a disabled grandma who takes pain meds,I know what I am talking about.I would never allow my DD to put her life on hold for me while I play the victim.Sherry is not bed or wheelchair bound, she can walk and talk.Mercede is not on house arrest,Sherry is.If Mercede did not exist,Sherry would still be required to do these things, and she would find a way. This pattern of dependency and enabler will be harder to break as time goes by.I empathize with them but if it were me I would be looking for options to let me DD get on with her life.

I left a comment on Mercede's blog, and I'll make it here, too. She and her mother should consider renting an apartment that is close to where Sherry has to report for drug testing. They may have to petition the court to make this move. Imagine the morning that Mercede's car doesn't start, and she can't get her mother to the testing facility. For the next two years, it should be walking distance to relieve Mercede of this huge responsibility. What do other people do if they have no one available to give them rides? And, where is Levi? He really should be helping out, too.

    Keep blogging, Mercede.

Sarah´s iron glove is beginning to rust and will eventually give her blood poisoning.

People are beginning to see that Sarah is a serpent.

  11. Does Sherry wear on her person some type of court mandated monitoring device?

I am just kind of foggy on Sherry being able to go places on Saturday and be driven to PO's facility.

Depending on the amount of cases this PO is responsible for and all the UA going on it must be mind blowing to keep up with all that work!

Mercede did graduate from high school...there were photos published of her at her graduation ceremony and she even wrote about her Dad dropping by the ceremony to congratulate her.

Facts need to be kept straight folks.

Maybe Mercedes is depressed and overwhelmed.I would think everything she has been through,at her at her age is just too much.can't anyone help her????
I guess I don't know enough about Mercedes and her mom to really care about the in-house arrest details or their personal problems yet.I just was introduced to the recently when Mercedes started her awesome blog. Like the other posters ,I don't know why Mercedes can't do on-line school, night school, evening work? She can't go out with her friends? Her mom has no friends or relatives to help out?I am not trying to be critical but there is a lot missing in our new instant intimate friendship

Mercede... tell Levi to write the book that crushes Sarah.

Her star is falling fast. The window of opportunity to make money on a tell all book is going to close soon.

  15. For some reason I wrote that Mercede was having trouble finishing high school due to her mother's crazy schedule.

I have no idea why I wrote high school instead of college, especially since I was at her high school graduation.

Anyway I have corrected it now, and apologize for my somewhat scattered thinking this morning.

The only excuse I can offer is that my daughter is currently driving through Canada and it is constantly on my mind right now.

She should be here in the next day or two and I should be right back to being my usual abnormal self.

It's all well and good to suggest that Sherry and Mercede move closer to the UA lab, except Sherry's medical condition is a consquence of a hysterectomy and I imagine that would make walking any distances very painful.

Off topic, but does the following mean that Bristol isn't in seclusion and hiding a pregnancy?
